Easter eggs

We made a few Plastimake Easter eggs. We experimented with both solid and hollow eggs, here's how we made them.

Solid Plastimake eggs

  1. Start by rolling about 20g of Plastimake into a ball
  2. Stretch several small pieces of coloured Plastimake around the outside of the ball
  3. Put the ball back in hot water to re-soften
  4. Once it has become soft again, roll it in your palms until you achieve a nice egg shape
  5. Drop it in cold water to lock the shape

Hollow Plastimake eggs

  1. We started by blowing out the contents of the egg so that we're left with an empty egg shell
  2. Give the egg shell a light coating of oil, this will ensure it won't stick to the Plastimake
  3. Form a piece of warm Plastimake around the outside of the shell, allow it to cool
  4. We used some metallic Plastimake to add a simple silver design to the shell
  5. Use a sharp saw to cut it in half, remove the egg shell
  6. We added a simple hinge made out of a staple and a tiny piece of aluminium
